A new Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development has been established.

Most of the programs of the old Department of Business will be merged into the new department, along with all the current programs of the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. The Brand Development Division of the old Department of Business will be moved to the Communications Branch of Executive Council. The Regulatory Reform unit of the old Department of Business is being moved to Service Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our website will be changing to reflect the responsibilities for the new department.

The Department of Business:

promotes the province nationally and internationally as a preferred investment destination for new and expanding businesses;
manages Newfoundland and Labrador’s branding strategy that highlights the province as an exciting place to live, work, visit and do business;
guides the ongoing initiative to improve the province’s regulatory environment, making it easier for businesses and people who rely on government services, information and regulation.
